Genetics

His sire, QUAPRICE, competed successfully on the international stage before being known as an exceptional sire. In addition to producing outstanding broodmares, he has sired numerous international performers such as VDL Groep Quatro, Vivaldi du Theil, and the invincible Viking d’la Rousserie.

On the dam's side, Lady Pouilly also enjoyed a successful showjumping career, notably competing in Junior and Young Rider Grand Prix classes. Her maternal line is particularly distinguished, featuring top-level horses such as Monark (1.60m) and Grand Cœur A (1.60m), extending all the way to the lineage that produced the exceptional Itot du Château (5* GP Winner). His damline traces back to Ballerine III, the foundation mare of the renowned "du Château" line and its many international performers.

Although he passed out too young, Vigo Cécé boasts an impressive ratio of top-performing offspring relative to the number of progeny old enough to compete. His own athletic qualities, combined with the strength of his genetics, have already established him as a globally famous stallion.

Performances

VIGO CECE was named Reserve Champion of France among 2-year-old colts in 2011 before claiming the title of French Champion among 3-year-old colts in 2012. Developed through the French Classic Young Horse circuit, his promising career was sadly cut short when he passed away at the age of six.

Breeding advice

VIGO CECE is one of the rare stallions capable of transmitting both exceptional strength and blood in equal measure. Powerful and athletic, he is particularly well suited to lighter-framed mares, to whom he adds significant strength and substance. He consistently improves canter quality, enhancing both impulsion and balance.

To ensure responsible management, only a limited number of ICSI sessions will be organized each year through selected partner centers :

  • AVANTEA – Italie
  • EMBRYOTOOLS – Espagne
  • GENETECH – Allemagne et Angleterre
  • EQUICEPTION – Netherlands

Offspring

Standing at stud from the ages of three to five, VIGO CECE produced approximately 150 offspring during his three breeding seasons. Despite this relatively limited number, he has already sired several of the world's leading show jumpers. He currently ranks 34th in the WBFSH sire rankings, thanks in particular to the achievements of:

  • DENVER DE TALMA (VIGO CECE x CANTURO), winner of the 5* Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Valkenswaard, runner-up in the Aachen Grand Prix and at Geneva, among many other top results. Ridden by Lorenzo De Luca, he has accumulated nearly €600,000 in prize money.
  • DO IT EASY (VIGO CECE x LAEKEN), winner of the London 5* Grand Prix with the young rider Tom Wachman and also a consistent top performer with Kendra Claricia Brinkop.
  • FLOYD DES PRÉS (VIGO CECE x PAPILLON ROUGE), widely regarded as one of France's leading prospects for the 2026 World Equestrian Games. Partnered with Antoine Hermann, he delivered the best French performance at the 2025 European Championships and has earned several outstanding placings in 5* Grand Prix competition.
  • ENJOY DE LA MURE (VIGO CECE x CALVADOS), a standout performer at the Paris Olympic Games and remarkably consistent under Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi, with results including runner-up finishes in the Hickstead 5* Grand Prix and the Deauville 3* Grand Prix, as well as victory in the Montefalco 4* Grand Prix.

In addition to these elite performers, each having already earned more than €300,000 in prize money, VIGO CECE has produced numerous other international winners, including MR BOMBASTIC (Denis Lynch), ESTER DE MAUGRE (Rodrigo Pessoa), DONJON D’ASSCHAUT (Tom Schellekens Stormanns) and ESPOIR BLANC CRISTAL (Christian Kukuk).
